Janet Carol "Jan" Thomas (1949-2008)

DENISON - Janet "Jan" Carol Thomas, 59, went home to her Lord Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Ms . Thomas was born Sept. 2, 1949 in Denison, the daughter of George and Janie Thomas. Jan attended Denison High School and graduated in 1967. She went to Grayson County College and East Texas State in Commerce, where she received her masters degree in Library Science. Jan worked at several schools as a librarian in the Arlington school district for 37 years, finally retiring this year in May from Bowie High. Over the years she had served on many committees and associations for the advancement of education. Jan loved to travel, but her main passion was books. She was a loving and caring person, who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Ms. Thomas is survived by brothers, Donald Thomas and wife, Wanda of Denison, Bobbie Lee Thomas and wife, Bobbie Dean of Colbert, Okla.; sister, Ellen Thomas of Denison; cousin, Judy Sanders of Denison; and numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
