Larry Orville Thrasher, USAF Ret'd, of Denison, Texas passed away on August 6, 2014 in Denison, Texas at his home with his family by his side. He was born April 24, 1949 in Denison, Texas at Perrin Air Force Base, to Albert Carl Thrasher and Doris Estelle Newell. Larry married Kathy Hiemann in May of 1973 in Universal City, Texas. To this union was born one child, David August Thrasher. Larry was also blessed with 5 grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Carl Thrasher and Doris Estelle Newell Thrasher Josselyn, and older brother Jim A. Thrasher of Rowlett, Texas.

Larry was a member of the VFW of Pottsboro, Texas. In 1967, at age 18 Larry enlisted in the United States Navy and after 4 years he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Larry served 16 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1987 to live in Denison, Texas. He opened up a Video store in Pottsboro, Texas for several years before retiring and spending time with family and friends.

Larry is survived by his sister Beverly and husband Bill Harris of Mission, Texas, brother Hardy Bartley and wife Linda of Denison, Texas and sister-in-law Thetis Thrasher of Rowlett, Texas, son David Thrasher and daughter-in-law Brooke of Gulf Shores, Alabama along with granddaughter Taylor Marie, grandsons: Jonathon David, August Gresham Thrasher and Colton Christopher Klavon and Austin Gregory Klavon along with several nieces, nephews and great nephews.

Our family wishes to express their thanks to the wonderful staff at Home Hospice. We are most grateful for your concern for all of us these past few weeks.

A military memorial services will be held for Larry Thrasher on September 6, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at 1115 W. Morgan, Denison, TX.
